What Is an Audiogram?

An audiogram is a short video that pairs a clip of audio with an animated waveform, a title, and usually your podcast artwork. It exists to solve a stubborn problem: audio does not travel on social media. Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and Facebook are video-first feeds — you cannot post a raw MP3 to any of them. An audiogram wraps your best 30–90 seconds of audio in a video container, so a podcast quote, interview highlight, or music teaser becomes something people can actually watch, hear, and share.

The moving waveform matters more than it looks like it should. A static quote card gives the feed no signal that sound is playing, so most viewers scroll past before tapping unmute. A waveform that visibly reacts to the voice communicates "this is audio, and it is playing right now" within the first half second. Podcasters consistently report that waveform clips hold attention longer and earn more plays than static episode announcements, simply because motion stops the scroll and the animation gives silent autoplay viewers a reason to turn the sound on.

This tool renders your audiogram server-side with FFmpeg and returns a standard H.264 MP4 that every platform accepts. There is no watermark, no account, and no paywalled export — the file you download is yours. Your audio and cover image are uploaded only for rendering and are deleted from the server as soon as processing finishes.

Which Size Should You Pick?

1:1 — 1080x1080

Square. The safest all-rounder: works in Instagram feed, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X without cropping. If you post one version everywhere, post this one.

9:16 — 1080x1920

Vertical. Fills the screen in Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Stories. Best reach right now — short vertical video is what platforms actively push.

16:9 — 1920x1080

Landscape. For YouTube uploads, embedding in blog posts and newsletters, or turning a full episode excerpt into a classic widescreen video.

Tips for Audiograms That Get Played

  • Lead with the hook, not the intro. Pick the 20–60 seconds where something surprising, funny, or contrarian is said. Nobody shares your theme music.
  • Add captions when you post. Most feeds autoplay muted. Upload this MP4 to your platform and use its caption tool (or burn in subtitles) so the clip works with the sound off, then rewards unmuting.
  • Use your brand colors. Set the background and waveform to match your cover art so listeners learn to recognize your clips mid-scroll.
  • Keep the title short and specific. "Why we fired our biggest client" beats "Episode 47 out now". The title renders directly into the video, so it survives reposts.
  • End with a destination. In the post caption, tell people exactly where to hear the rest — a link, a show name to search, or "link in bio".

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this audiogram maker really free, with no watermark?

Yes. The MP4 you download has no watermark, no branding, and no time-limited trial. You do not need an account or an email address. Most audiogram services put their logo on free exports or cap you at a handful of videos per month — this tool does neither.

How long can my audio clip be?

You can upload MP3, WAV, M4A, or AAC files up to 50MB and 10 minutes long, and the rendered video covers the first 120 seconds. That cap exists because social clips perform best under two minutes — for promotion, 30 to 90 seconds is the sweet spot. Trim your clip to the exact highlight before uploading for best results.

What video format do I get, and will every platform accept it?

You get a standard H.264 MP4 with AAC audio at 30fps, with the moov atom moved to the front (faststart) for instant web playback. This is the format Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, and Facebook all recommend, so you can upload the file directly without re-encoding.

Is my audio processed in the browser or on a server?

Rendering happens on our server using FFmpeg, because encoding a 1080p waveform video is too heavy to do reliably in a browser. Your audio and optional cover image are uploaded over HTTPS, used only to render your video, and deleted from the server immediately after processing completes.

Why does my waveform look flat or small?

The renderer normalizes loudness before drawing, so quiet recordings still produce a visible waveform. If it still looks flat, your clip may contain long silences or very compressed audio — try a section with clear speech. The Bars style reacts to frequency content and often looks livelier for music, while Wave and Line follow the amplitude of speech closely.
