What is Fix42?

Fix42 is a growing collection of free online tools for everyday digital tasks. From viewing CSV files and converting images to learning German and exploring bioinformatics data, we provide simple solutions without sign-ups or complicated processes.

The name "Fix42" reflects our mission to solve those countless small digital challenges you face daily - whether it's formatting JSON, generating QR codes, or turning photos into artistic doodles.

Our Philosophy

  • Honest About Where Your Data Goes: Many tools, around 60 of the 100 or so, run entirely in your browser: the text, developer, calculator and document generator tools, for example. Others need software that only runs on a server, so they send your file or text to our server: video, GIF and audio conversion, the PDF tools, the main image converter, HTML to image, PDF or video rendering, text to speech, the AI chat extractor, and the CSV viewer for files over 500MB. Those files are deleted after processing. The privacy policy has the details.
  • Free to Use: All tools work without paywalls or required accounts. The site is supported by advertising and optional Buy Me a Coffee donations.
  • No Nonsense: Simple, fast tools that do exactly what they say on the tin.
  • Built with Care: Every tool is crafted to solve real problems we've encountered ourselves.

Our Tools

We're constantly adding new tools based on what would be helpful. Current favorites include:

Why We Built This

We've all been there - needing to quickly view a CSV without Excel, convert an image format, or validate some JSON. Instead of installing software for a two-minute job, Fix42 gives you a page that does that one job.

Where a job can be done in the browser, it is, so the data stays on your device. Where it cannot (video encoding, PDF compression and similar), the file goes to our own server, is processed, and is deleted. No accounts, no hidden fees. Just open, use, and get on with your day.

Is Fix42 Free? How Is It Paid For?

Is everything on Fix42 really free?

Yes. There is no paid plan, no trial and no credit card. Every tool is available to everyone without an account, and that includes commercial use: you can use the tools for client work or inside a business.

How does Fix42 make money?

Mostly from advertising. The ads pay for the server that does the heavier jobs, such as video, PDF and image conversion and text to speech. There is also an optional Buy Me a Coffee page for anyone who wants to chip in. Fix42 does not sell your data or the files you process.

Are there usage limits?

There are no daily quotas or credits. Tools that run on the server have technical limits, such as a maximum file size, and a few (the AI chat extractor, for example) cap how many requests can be made per hour so one person cannot slow the server down for everyone else. Tools that run in your browser are limited only by your device.

Will tools ever move behind a paywall?

No. If optional paid features are ever added, such as team features or API access, the existing tools stay free.
