About PDF Rotation

Fix Orientation Issues

Correct pages that appear sideways, upside down, or in wrong orientations for better readability.

Flexible Rotation Options

Rotate all pages uniformly or select specific pages to fix mixed orientations in one document.

Preserve Quality

Rotation is performed without re-rendering, maintaining original PDF quality and file size.

Common Use Cases

  • Fix scanned documents that were fed into the scanner incorrectly
  • Correct landscape pages in portrait documents or vice versa
  • Prepare documents for proper viewing on mobile devices
  • Fix orientation issues before printing or sharing documents

How PDF Rotation Works Under the Hood

Every page in a PDF carries a rotation attribute that tells viewers how to orient it: 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees. When this tool rotates a page, it updates that stored value rather than re-rendering the content. Nothing is rasterized or recompressed, so text stays selectable, embedded images keep their original resolution, and the output file is essentially the same size as the one you uploaded.

This matters most for scanned documents. Scanners save the image exactly as it passed through the feeder, so a landscape contract fed in sideways gets stored sideways. Because the fix is a metadata change, correcting a 300-page scan takes seconds and does not degrade the scan quality at all.

A quick note on angles: 90° CW turns the top edge of the page toward the right, 90° CCW turns it toward the left, and 180° fixes pages that are completely upside down — the usual result of a stack of paper loaded backwards into a document feeder.

Rotate a PDF in Four Steps

  1. Upload your PDF — drag it into the drop zone or click to browse. Files up to 50MB are accepted.
  2. Pick a rotation method — choose "All Pages" for a uniformly wrong document, or "Specific Pages" and enter page numbers like 2,5,9-12 when only some pages need fixing.
  3. Select the angle — the small page icon on each button rotates to preview the effect, so you can sanity-check the direction before committing.
  4. Click Rotate PDF — the corrected file downloads as rotated.pdf. Your original file on disk is never modified.

Typical scenarios: an annual report where landscape financial tables sit inside a portrait document (rotate just those pages 90°), a double-sided scan where every second page came out upside down (rotate 2,4,6,8… by 180°), or architectural drawings exported in the wrong orientation for review on a tablet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does rotating reduce quality or bloat the file?

No. Rotation only rewrites each page's orientation flag; page content streams are copied through untouched. The output is visually identical and nearly identical in size.

How is this different from rotating in my PDF viewer?

The View > Rotate command in most viewers is a temporary display setting — close the file and the page is sideways again. This tool writes the rotation into the file itself, so it opens correctly in every viewer, on every device, and prints correctly too.

Can I rotate different pages by different angles?

One angle is applied per pass. If your document needs mixed corrections (say, page 3 by 90° and page 7 by 180°), run the downloaded result through the tool a second time with the other page selection.

The PDF looks fine on screen but prints sideways. Will this help?

Usually, yes. Some viewers silently auto-rotate pages for display even when the stored orientation is wrong, while printers and other applications read the file as-is. Saving the correct rotation into the file removes the mismatch.

Is my file kept on your server?

Your PDF is uploaded over HTTPS, rotated on the server, and streamed straight back as the download. It is not retained after processing.
